For one and a half years, the filmmakers watched the most modern coke factory in the world, located in Germany’s Ruhr Valley, being dismantled into parts and shipped to China. This subtly observed documentary shows the strain 400 Chinese workers faced during their 60-hour working week far from home and family. At the same time it reveals the German coke workers frustration as pride in their work vanishes with the factory itself. The whole dismantling process exposes cultural differences and the relentless demands of a globalised economy.
