The artist, writer and cartographer Tim Robinson has been extensively mapping and studying Connemara, in the west of Ireland, for the last thirty years. His three-volume study of Connemara: Listening to the Wind, The Last Pool of Darkness and A Little Gaelic Kingdom, has achieved international acclaim and won two Irish Book Awards. This film is based on the Connemara books and provides a visual interpretation of his work across landscape, history and mythology.
We are delighted to welcome the filmmaker Pat Collins to Newcastle for the screening. He will be present for a Q&A with one of the film’s soundtrack artists Susan Stenger.
This event is part of our Digging for Sound weekends of new commissions, concerts, films, and walks focusing on geology, topography, landscape and sound.
