Saturday 10 March

Our Slow Cinema Weekend continued. Over this special weekend we welcomed some of the world’s leading filmmakers to Newcastle to screen and discuss their rarely seen work, across Tyneside Cinema and Star and Shadow Cinema.

The programme ran from 11am – midnight today, starting with a screening of Ben River’s Slow Action and continuing with a day-long special screening event of Lav Diaz’s 8-hour epic Melancholia. Refreshments and food were served during the day, and the filmmaker is present to discuss the work.

The evening screening was the regional premiere of Bela Tarr’s last ever work The Turin Horse, filmed in collaboration with, and introduced by, Fred Kelemen.

You could attend individual films or the whole weekend with our special weekend pass.

All of our Exhibitions were open today.
