AV FESTIVAL 12: SYMPOSIA, TALKS & TOURS
Thu 1 March 2012 – Sat 31 March 2012

Symposia, talks and tours ran throughout the Festival, ranging from professional symposia for artists, curators and academics, to informal drop-in exhibition tours for everyone.

The Festival opened with the As Slow As Possible Symposium at mima. It explored ideas of slowness and resistant temporalities in contemporary art and culture with guest speakers: philosopher Eric Alliez, culture and music critic Paul Morley, performance art specialist and writer Laura Cull, and film theorist and philosopher John Mullarkey, plus Festival artists.

For the first time free informal exhibition tours took place each weekend of the Festival, designed and led by Festival volunteers.

Other talks and seminars were run in collaboration with Festival partners Teesside University, CRUMB, Datarama, Contemporary Art Society and Intersections.
