AV FESTIVAL 12: EQUINOX MUSIC WEEKENDS
Sat 17 March 2012
Fri 23 March 2012 – Sun 25 March 2012
These two weekends of new commissions and special concerts focused on ritual, alchemy and dreams in experimental music. Connecting together the weekends either side of the spring Equinox, we marked the time shift from spring to summertime.
Starting with a remembrance event to Peter Christopherson on Sat 17 March 2012, including special guests Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti, with Chris Watson, Attila Csihar plus films by Derek Jarman and Philippe Garrel.
The event was described as "a moving tribute to Sleazy's life and work... This weekend in Newcastle proved that these embers shall and can never be extinguished, and remain for all who take the time to engage." (The Quietus)
Followed by a weekend of concerts across Newcastle in unusual venues including historic towers, circular domes and science museums with Attila Csihar (Sunn O))), Mayhem), The Caretaker, Forest Swords and :zoviet*france:. Bed and Breakfast for the last weekend was provided by Steven Stapleton’s overnight Sleep Concert.
