AV FESTIVAL 12: 24 HOUR LAUNCH

AV Festival 12 opened with 24 continuous hours of free exhibition openings and events across the region, for everyone to sample the Festival as fast as possible.
Starting in Middlesbrough from 6pm-9pm with three exhibitions of slow journeys across Cuban landscapes, ancient ruins and post-industrial steelworks.
The night continued in Newcastle with a marathon 24-hour performance starting at midnight of Leif Inge’s 9 Beet Stretch: Ludwig van Beethoven’s 9th Symphony stretched to 24 hours.
The following morning at 9am launched exhibitions across Newcastle, and culminated in reading a million years in Gateshead. Then from 3pm in the afternoon we were slowed down with installations that freeze, delay, mirror and expose time across Sunderland.
FREE, no booking required. You could join us for all 24-hours, or drop in at any time. A coach was available to transport audiences between Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland and Middlesbrough.
