AV FESTIVAL 10: FESTIVAL DAYTIME HUB
Fri 5 March 2010 – Sun 14 March 2010

AV Festival 10 had a daytime home and meeting point at the Feral Trade Café, based on the 3rd Floor of the Tyneside Cinema. Throughout the Festival it provided for your calorific needs with a transnational menu of drinks and snacks imported over social networks.

Kate Rich has been operating Feral Trade import-export out of Bristol since 2003. Feral Trade deals in migrant groceries direct from their suppliers that are circulated by the movements of people and their excess baggage, primarily using other artists, curators, friends and relations as mules.

The café was open daily for Festival breakfast, light lunch and cocktail hour, the menu featured: coffee from El Salvador, hot chocolate from Mexico, light bites from Beirut, Moroccan energy balls, apple mush from Orchard of Avon, grappa from Croatia and fresh sweets from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Kate Rich also curated a series of talks in the café, including artists and thinkers: Avery Gordon, Ruth Catlow, Dominic Smith and James Kennard.
