Coinciding with AV Festival 10 was a chance to see a major exhibition of Jenny Holzer’s work presented over BALTIC’s two largest gallery spaces, consisting of paintings, sculptures and her renowned LED installations, which combine overwhelming visual effects with messages of a poetic, socio-critical and political nature. This exhibition centres on the artist’s work since the 1990s and shows how Holzer has continued to innovate artistically while elaborating on themes that have been central to her practice: pain, love, peace and survival.

Jenny Holzer is co-organized by the Beyeler Museum, Riehen/Basel, Switzerland and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago. Major support for Jenny Holzer is provided by Donald and Brigitte Bren, Anne and Burt Kaplan, The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
