Datarama is a democratic data-sharing event: a show-and-tell session for all people who like to make interesting things with technology. It is hosted by Polytechnic, an independent artist-led organisation with an emphasis on hands-on, open and distributed approaches to working with art and technology. This special AV Festival version of Datarama coincided with ScienceFest and the Maker Faire, providing an opportunity for like-minded people to meet and share music, sound, design, animation, gadgets, apps, patches and more.
Polytechnic is an artist’s group that re-purposes technology and explores open source methods of project development. Their work has been included in exhibitions and festivals at the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, New Zealand; ICA, London; and Tyneside Cinema, Newcastle. The founders of Polytechnic were artists Sneha Solanki and Dominic Smith.
