Thu 28 February 2008 – Sat 8 March 2008

AV Festival 08 presented three symposia, seven talks and seminars, and eight courses and workshops.

Highlights included the Music & Machines symposium, which explored the different ways that artists and musicians engage with radio and broadcasting technologies. It featured key thinkers, artists and musicians in the field including: Douglas Kahn, Brandon LaBelle, Tetsuo Kogawa, Joyce Hinterding, Heidi Grundmann and Andreas Broeckmann.

The learning programme began in January 2008 with courses on television drama, and writing for television. During the Festival local artists participated in an intensive five-day laboratory for using and making radio tools led by Tetsuo Kogawa, RIXC Centre for New Media and Polytechnic. Free public talks were given by many Festival artists including: Chris Watson, Yuko Mohri, Joyce Hinterding, Jean-Jacques Perrey and Dick Mills.
