AV Festival 08 featured 12 exhibitions across Newcastle, Gateshead, Middlesbrough and Sunderland, including two UK premieres and ten new commissions.

Exhibitions included solo installations by: Harun Farocki, Joyce Hinterding, Chris Watson, Sonia Boyce, Jose Luis de Vincente, Irma Vila and Bestiario, Yuko Mohri, Marcus Coates, Zoe Irvine, People Like Us, Ryota Kuwakubo, John Cage, and Staalplaat Soundsystem.

Artists included in the group exhibition Broadcast Yourself were: Active Ingredient, Shaina Anand, Ian Breakwell, Chris Burden, Stan Douglas, Kit Galloway and Sherrie Rabinowitz, Alistair Gentry, Guillermo Gomez-Pena, Doug Hall, Chip Lord and Jody Proctor, Joanie 4 Jackie, Pat Naldi and Wendy Kirkup, TV Swansong, Bill Viola, and Van Gogh TV.
