Mike Leigh’s achingly hilarious and cringe-worthy teleplay stars Alison Steadman as Beverley, whose drinks-fuelled catch-up with the neighbours ends up revealing the obsessions and prejudices of the 1970s British middle-class. The screening was introduced by film critic, Ben Dickenson, author of the book Hollywood's New Radicalism.
