AV Festival 03 included six performances across Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland and Middlesbrough, including the world premiere of a new commission with The Light Surgeons.

Highlights included: the live performance of Man with a Movie Camera by The Cinematic Orchestra in the abandoned Odeon (Paramount) Cinema; Timecode Live with Mike Figgis; a micromusic showcase at Side Cinema; and Tina Frank performing with her live visuals at Tyneside Cinema.
