On Friday 5 March unleash your energy for a special marathon night of Festival events across NewcastleGateshead. No booking is required. Download the pdf map HERE of the venues, and make your way around AV Late & Live Newcastle this Friday.
You start the evening hearing the Newcastle Civic Centre’s imposing carillon bells reverberate across the city. The night continues with a hi-energy dash round seven Festival exhibitions: hear a forensic love story at Great North Museum: Hancock; a cacophony of soft toy bears at Hatton Gallery and see a wooden iLog perform at Gallery North. Across town encounter giant audible light bulbs in Discovery Museum; sing along to a climate change opera at Vane; experience the distorted acoustics of the Tyne Bridge and head over to BALTIC for the chance to gamble with the power elite in a pop-up casino.
Power Game is a one-night-only performance by Liliane Lijn, exploring the politics of identity and the power of words. Enter the casino: a glamorous setting of leafy palms, music and cocktails. At the heart of the game are the invited players, who bet their own money on the comparative power of two words, which is decided by vote. You can buy chips to enter the casino and play, or watch the live action unfold in the BALTIC Café Bar late into the night.
