The colour of the North East sky is revealed on adshels on the streets of Sunderland city centre. During a residency at Narec (New and Renewable Energy Centre) Alec Finlay explored whether wind turbines could be camouflaged to match the sky. He took photographs every day for a year to specify the full range of colours. The outer ring of the Sky Colour Wheel shows all 365 shades, which were then
blended into the average for each week, month and season. The centre circle is the whole year’s sky summed up in one colour: a true blue.
Produced by AV Festival 10 and Studio Alec Finlay in collaboration with Jack Lowe, in partnership with Sunderland Council and Inspire Northumberland.
